Okay so apparently Dominic Cervi’s trial with Portsmouth has ended and he wasn’t offered a contract. Shocker.

His only claim to fame right now is that he had a tial with Celtic. He refuses to sign with an MLS club after Chicago drafted his rights and apparently thinks he can just jump straight to Europe without putting any time in.

Hey dude, guess what. You’ve made 0 caps and only 2 u-23 appearances. You were second-team All-American. Put your time in at Chicago and grow up. Summer’s almost over and just because you’re 6′6″ doesn’t mean you’re the next “big” thing.

This is a problem in America right now, guys aren’t willing to put in the work at MLS or USL for 2 or 3 years because the pay is crap and think they can just jump overseas. Goalkeepers dont even hit their prime until 26-27 so what’s the hurry??

I understand your point. And I agree. Too many of our young guys think they’re Euro-worthy. But it’s a jock mentality, a bunch think they’re better than they actually are and they believe they are entitled to paid without having any real experience.

Conversely, I am not against any player trying to secure a contract so that they can actually eat food not called Ramen noodles.

I agree. And I love seeing players advance and get chaces in Europe. But it seems like he’s saying MLS is not an option.
