Instead of calling my mother calling me today, I called her. I got a job. Well it’s an internship, but the lady who hired me told me if I do well this summer I get a job. It’s at a pretty standard company, but I know it’s legit because people get dressed up for work every day and the older folks have BlackBerrys. Right now I have to do general office duties. I told her I had experience in general office duties, but my experience is just common sense. I think I can handle answering phones, faxes, and sorting through mail. It’s funny how much my office resembles the office from the show The Office (Yes, I just used the word office three times in the sentence…actually if you count everything before the period, four).
I start Thursday and it’s crazy to say, but I’m excited to go to work. Since college I’ve been waiting. Waiting to start supporting myself financially, waiting to do something that could set me up for the future, waiting to tell people that I have a job that doesn’t involve me testing video games. Also, I can finally start looking for a place instead of being a temporary guest and my friend’s house.
Faithful readers don’t fret I get a computer at work so I can keep posting on my blog, when I’m not video snacking. Video snacking is a sweet term I learned the other day for watching videos during your lunch break. I’m sure after I’m a working man I will pick up some excellent new terms, which I will be sure to share with all of you asshats.

Man was a legend. If you don’t know his comedy, stop whatever you are doing and pick up one of his books, youtube him, or Amazon one of his DVD’s. Not sure what the equivalent of a moment of silence is online, but maybe take a second from the keyboard and remember this comedy legend. He will truly be missed.

As our first full month in LA is almost coming to a close. As a way to celebrate the occasion we had a party. Unfortunately Josh went from party goer, to the party’s project. Well done, Joshua… well done.

Think you know a little bit about ipods? Do what this guy does. We all know how busy New Yorkers are, and spending an hour or two in an Apple store to get their 2 years old iPod fixed probably isn’t realistic. Thats where Demetrios Leontaris, the New York City “iPod doctor”, steps in.
Leontaris isn’t a former iStore employee who decided to start his own gig, and he isn’t an electronics graduate from a technical college. He seems like a normal guy with a decent business sense and steady enough hands to disconnect and reconnect an iPod LCD or hard drive in his Pontiac Aztec.
The NYC Ipod Doctor is capitalizing on the ridiculous amount of money that iPod owners have to pay to get their out of warranty iPods repaired, but I would guess that the price of gas and hassle of putting up with impatient iPod owners who are pissed off about their headsets not working or who can’t figure out why there is a huge crack in their screen after they dropped it 3 stories out a window may be a bit stressful. But nobody said it was going to be easy.
There are four generations of regular ipods along with nanos, shuffles, touches, and iphones. There seem to basically be the following parts for each: batteries, LCD screens, hard drives, headset jacks, motherboards, housings, touchwheels, etc.
So with there really only being 10-15 parts per model and with all of the parts being available on eBay, domestic websites and web sites overseas, this seems like a business that almost anyone could make successful with a little bit of customer service skills, a few bucks to spend, and a Craigslist account.
His company doesn’t only make money from servicing ipods. Sales and trade-ins also generate income, and recycling parts and being extra organized seems to be where he is able to make this business a success.
While it is true that Leontaris’ company now services Macbook, Imacs, and PDA’s on top of MP3 players, it seems like anyone with a bit of common sense and the ability to work with their hands could make this work from the beginning. His company also seems to benefit from increased exposure after being featured on ABC News, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, and it would seem as if he knows how to market himself and his company.
Well done Mr Leontaris, but your profit margin might be higher if you make the switch to a Hybrid.

The formation, measuring 150ft in diameter, is apparently a coded image representing the first 10 digits, 3.141592654, of pi.

It is has appeared in a field near Barbury Castle, an iron-age hill fort above Wroughton, Wilts, and has been described by astrophysicists as “mind-boggling”. I have described it as “holy shit look what the Brits are up to”.

Hedviga Golik made herself a cup of tea and sat down to watch some television in her hometown of Zagreb, Croatia. Sadly, she died in her chair. This was in 1966. She was just found, 42 years later, in her time capsule mausoleum where she’s been sitting ever since. She never finished her tea.
What’s absurd is that she was in fact reported missing, but somehow no one ever checked her apartment, which leads me to believe no one checked anywhere. I mean, where else do you look for someone when they’re missing? I don’t understand it. Her neighbors apparently just assumed she moved out of her apartment, and she was finally found when the police broke in to figure out who owned the place.
A police spokesman said: “When officers went there, they said it was like stepping into a place frozen in time. The cup she had been drinking tea from was still on a table next to the chair she had been sitting in and the house was full of things no one had seen for decades. Nothing had been disturbed for decades, even though there were more than a few cobwebs in there.”

So I’ve been in LA for about three weeks now. I have a Dodgers hat and want a long board. I finally got a job and guess what I’m doing. I’m a video game tester. I play video games, they ask me if I like them, and then I get paid. It’s silly that I can make some cash doing this. I’m glad I went to four years of college of to prepare myself for the arduous challenge of playing video games. I didn’t have to specify that I watch hours and hours of youtube, but it might of actually helped me to get this gig.
It’s decent money, but not enough to keep me out here, or make me feel like I have purpose. So I’m still applying for real jobs, internships that will lead to real jobs, and keeping my options open because I’m to scared to narrow my possibilities at all. At least I’m finally feeling comfortable on the west coast. If anyone has any fun places to recommend in LA I’m always down, so please feel free.
